London Chocolate Festival 2012
Something very different for me, and a complete change from my normal work I was asked to photograph the London Chocolate Festival by the Festival Hall on the south bank. Now I hate to admit it, but I realised after the day I’ve always been a bit of a philistine when it comes to chocolate and as a result obviously seriously missing out ;). By the time I’d finished photographing the various demonstrations and wandering round the festival taking lots of photographs I was well and truly ready for some serious chocolate tasting.
I’d genuinely no idea how much skill the professional chocolatiers have, nor how much work they put in, from tempering chocolate through to flavouring with salted caramel, chilli, cardamon, tobacco or pretty much anything else you could think of. One guy was even using marmite as a flavouring, but as I’m definitely in the ‘hate it’ camp, I’ll be giving that one a miss.
OK some photos, and as its Easter this weekend starting with a few easter eggs seems as good a place as any.
And a few hot cross buns.
Piping the crosses.
A chocolate demonstration.
This sort of thing is so tempting ;).
Seeing as its Easter another egg.
And another demonstration.
Grinding chocolate from the roasted beans.
A discussion during the demonstrations.
Did I mention just how tempting things were ;).
The way to wake up Easter morning.
Interaction was the order of the day during the demonstrations.
And who could fail to do anything but get very hungry at the site of this.
