A Styled Shoot at Southside House. The Raven Princess
Its always really good to be involved in something a little different. So when I was asked to be involved in this photo shoot at Southside House on Wimbledon Common I jumped at the chance to do it. The shoot is called ‘The Raven Princess” and kind of tells the story of descent through greed into darkness and then madness. And an almost Dickensian ending. Although I’m not 100% sure that things were planned in that sort of detail at all. It just worked out like that. Atleast for me. The origami cranes in parts of this shoot really caught my imagination, and they seem to fit with the drama of some of the photographs so very well.
One of the really great things about the day was the chance to work as part of a group of people, all with slightly different visions of how things would look. And to pull it all together like this. I think the photos really do tell the story. Everybody involved in this photoshoot worked phenomenally hard to bring everything together. I love the way using Southside House added to the story and the way I’ve been able to use shadows to create so much drama in some of these photographs.
If you’d like to read a little more about this photoshoot and learn a little more about all the people and ideas involved, its currently featured on the fantastic “Want that wedding” blog.
Its worth just mentioning Southside House for a second. On the southern (funny that) edge of Wimbledon Common its one of those fantastic places that would be so easy to drive right past. Stepping into the house and gardens real is like stepping back into a different age. And the whole place is just fascinating. Its well worth a visit if you get chance. Although I suspect by the time I publish this the last tour of the year will have been run. Worth planning in for 2013 now though.
